The Governor of the Fergana region, Khayrullo Bozorov, received a delegation led by the newly appointed European Union Ambassador to Uzbekistan, Toivo Klaar.
During the meeting, they discussed prospective cooperation opportunities in the Fergana region, given the steadily developing relations between Uzbekistan and the European Union. Ambassador Klaar was provided with detailed information on the region’s economic, investment, and agricultural indicators, as well as its unique characteristics.
It was noted that in recent years, the Fergana region has expanded its direct cooperation with foreign countries, establishing mutually beneficial relations with developed European nations. As a result, the volume of foreign investments attracted to the region has been increasing year by year.
The governor proposed several cooperation initiatives, including the establishment of a training center and a modern laboratory at the Agro Services Center in Fergana city, in line with global standards. He also highlighted plans to further develop seed production and nursery cultivation in Kuva district, as well as to enhance the processing of fruits and vegetables, identifying these as key priorities for future collaboration.
Toivo Klaar extended an invitation to the governor to attend the upcoming business forum in Tashkent, scheduled for November 6-7 this year. He noted that numerous EU business representatives would participate in the forum and stressed that the involvement of officials from the region in such events would provide an excellent platform to showcase the agricultural potential of Fergana.
During the meeting, it was agreed to systematically address all the proposals and issues raised.
The delegation will also visit various agricultural sectors in the region to acquaint themselves with the diverse products being cultivated and the major projects currently underway.
