The Uzbekistan-Hungary First Interregional Forum took place at the Jome Complex in Kokand.
During the forum, the Governor of Fergana Region, Khayrullo Bozorov, warmly welcomed the delegates from Hungary, expressing his sincere wishes. He highlighted the deep-rooted historical ties between the Uzbek and Hungarian peoples, emphasizing that their origins are interconnected by shared ancestral roots. Governor Bozorov noted that today, under the leadership and political will of both nations, the strategic partnership and practical cooperation between Uzbekistan and Hungary are steadily advancing. He drew attention to the continuous and active dialogue at all levels, emphasizing that the forum marked an important step in establishing interregional cooperation. He further mentioned that there are significant opportunities for collaboration in various sectors, including industry, pharmaceuticals, agriculture, logistics, and construction.
During face-to-face discussions, Governor Bozorov expressed confidence that the forum would lead to the identification of new mutually beneficial areas of cooperation, while familiarizing Hungarian delegates with the favorable investment and business environment in the region.
Imre Hubai, President of the Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok Region of Hungary, and Attila Berkó, the executive governor, also addressed the gathering. They underscored that the high-level meetings between the leaders of the two countries are elevating the scope of cooperation to a qualitatively new level. They emphasized that the political dialogue between Uzbekistan and Hungary has been effectively established, and that now, economic relations are being strengthened. They expressed their readiness to collaborate with Fergana Region in various fields.
As part of the forum, a cooperation agreement was signed, granting the status of “sister regions” between Fergana Region and Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok Region, as well as between Kokand City and Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok Region.
Subsequently, a private meeting was held between the leaders of the two regions.
The guests also visited a handicrafts exhibition organized at the Jome Complex, gaining further insight into local craftsmanship.
