Fergana Region Governor Khayrullo Bozorov met with Deputy Speaker of the Malaysian Parliament's Senate, Nur Jazlan Mohamed, to discuss expanding inter-regional cooperation.
The Governor expressed gratitude to the guest for his role as an international observer in the recent elections held in Uzbekistan. He noted that a new era of friendship and multifaceted partnership has begun between Uzbekistan and Malaysia, driven by the political will of the leaders of both nations, with relations now advancing to a new qualitative level.
In particular, ongoing initiatives were discussed to further enhance trade and economic cooperation between Fergana and Malaysia's regional entities. This includes a joint project with the Malaysian company "Sunview" to construct a $150 million, 200 MW solar photovoltaic power plant. Information about Fergana's economic and investment potential was also provided.
Nur Jazlan Mohamed praised the ongoing reforms in Uzbekistan, acknowledging the rapid and substantial progress across various sectors. He highlighted Fergana's significant potential as an industrial, economic, and investment hub and indicated the interest of Malaysian investors in exploring cooperative opportunities. He emphasized the feasibility of implementing joint projects in trade, economic, and investment spheres.
The regional governor reaffirmed his support for developing cooperation between Fergana and Malaysia's regions and for joint projects.
