The Fergana branch of the Republican Forensic Examination Center, named after K. Suleimanova and operating under the Ministry of Justice, has inaugurated its new building. The opening ceremony was attended by local sector leaders, field specialists, and community representatives.
The Governor of Fergana, Khayrullo Bozorov, congratulated the team on the new facility and emphasized the center’s significant role in establishing justice, protecting citizens’ rights and freedoms, facilitating fair trials, and identifying crimes and legal violations. He highlighted that the creation of the only human DNA forensic biology laboratory in the Fergana Valley, established under the Presidential Decree and the Cabinet of Ministers’ resolution of January 10, 2022, marks a major milestone in the field, enhancing convenience for the public.
Deputy Minister of Justice Sherzod Rabiev and Akram Khalilov, the head of the Republican Forensic Examination Center, noted that extensive reforms are underway to further develop forensic expertise, a critical branch of the judicial system. They emphasized the focus on improving the efficiency of forensic examinations and equipping the sector with modern, high-precision analysis tools to support fair and impartial justice.
In the third quarter of this year, the Fergana regional branch received materials for more than 1,000 complex forensic examinations. Over 1,400 queries from various fields were reviewed, with forensic procedures initiated by the courts and law enforcement agencies for more than 1,000 cases. Over 4,900 objects were examined, and 7,780 studies were conducted.
The Fergana regional branch is now fully equipped to provide accurate, evidence-based findings. To strengthen its material and technical resources, nearly $600,000 worth of modern equipment, including advanced devices for DNA analysis, was acquired for the laboratory.
Following the ribbon-cutting ceremony, attendees toured the new facility and reviewed the conditions created to support the center’s vital work.
